The Fourth Dimension

I’m sure you all are curious for what it is, but the thing is it’s another world right next to us. We also know them as the ghosts. Some of us would be terrified even by the thought of them, while some over-brave and self-assertive people want to interact with them. They try different methods to interfere between the balance of both worlds. In addition, there are those who don’t believe in the fourth dimension.

Here is the story, a true story of a girl who never believed in such things but was petrified by the thought that what would happen if there was any chance of their existence. A little girl who was just in 5th standard had an experience of paranormal activity. She belonged to a middle-class family just like the other 42% of Pakistanis. She was part of a family whose first priority is education, where children are loved on the basis of their ranks in class, where you don’t get a single room until you are graduated, well, I guess not even after graduation, and most importantly, where the mental state of a child is not given core importance and symptoms of anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts of children are just considered an act unless they result into something bad. To sum it up, it’s impossible for them to share their thoughts with their so-called supportive family.

Now about the girl, she was a victim of these symptoms. She had a bad habit of waking up at twelve every night. It wasn’t due to any work or a din or something which could physically affect her. It was because of the dreams that haunted her. One night, she was sleeping with her brothers and as usual, woke up at twelve. She looked at the wall that was glowing red and then blue alternatively because of the glowing light of the UPS in the dark. Suddenly, she looked at the window in front of her and she was startled to see a woman standing outside, constantly staring at her. Normally, when a kid who is just in 5th grade would cover herself/himself up with a blanket, close his/her eyes and pray for her safety, and will try to fall asleep. But as you know, influenced by the movies, she got up from the bed and walked towards the window. She turned the lights ON and as physics illustrates the concept of reflection of light, she couldn’t see anything through. She walked towards the door, opened it, and boom there was no one but the walls. She looked around and found nothing. She was terrified but thought it an illusion.

She returned and the moment she turned off the lights, she saw the woman again staring at her with her deadly gaze. She rushed towards her mother’s room but it was locked. She couldn’t even scream out of fear. She spent the whole night on the floor in front of the locked room.

In the morning, she told her parents and siblings what she’s been through but as usual, they averted it by saying it was just a dream and ghosts don’t show up in front of humans.

The story doesn’t end here……

It was the first incident in her life followed by a list of activities that changed her life completely. Since the night, she constantly saw people in her dreams she hadn’t met before. But out of them, some people occurred in her life after a month or two. From 5th grade till 12th, she constantly encountered different circumstances which led to anxiety and depression. But out of all the problems she had a friend who often visited her when she was alone, a friend who always comforted and consoled her and was the only one to never leave her side when she had no one to understand what she was going through. She didn’t know whether he was a spectre, a ghost or a simple hallucination but for her, he was real and the only reality which she didn’t want to deny. She hopes he’ll return soon to ease her life and make her happy again because she still misses him till now and she needs him.

Well, Wirthin’s words were made for this moment I guess,

“Some memories are unforgettable, remaining ever vivid and heartwarming!”

Here only one question arises. Is there a fourth dimension? And if there is, are they allowed to meddle with humans? Are they good or evil? Can they be a part of our lives? We can do nothing but question.
