We are satisfied, but are we happy?

I do my daily routine work with my same face having a smile on it meeting people, eating dinner, gossiping with friends, doing outings, and many more. So, am I happy? Am I living the best life? I don’t think so. When I asked myself or my soul are you happy I didn’t get any answer. I feel like I am not happy but I am not sad either then what am I?

Some people said rich people are always happy but is it true? Then what is happiness for poor people? Do they live their whole lives in sadness?

I asked a question from random people about the moment when they were happy. Some said they were happy when they perform good scores in class. Some said they were happy when they went on vacations someone said they were happy when they went to their hometown.

Why everyone was happy and why anyone is not happy at present at the moment? Ask yourself, if someone gave you a lot of money you, become rich and you start living a peaceful life with your family having no worries, then are you happy? My answer is that my heart feels satisfaction but not happiness, or I might be happy at the start but in the end, I am tired of being living that life. (Is satisfaction happiness?)

Someone advised me if I want to be happy to visit the mountain area. I went mountain area but what I feel is only satisfaction. Someone said if you want to be happy then make a relationship with God I start doing it but again I feel a deep satisfaction in my heart. Someone said to me that if you help others or poor people you become happy. I start it little but again I feel a good satisfaction in my heart but not happiness.

What is happiness? Is it a feeling or something else? Why are we not happy forever? Further to know about it, I read a book Ikigai: The Japanese secret to a long and happy life. This book tells me about what the Japanese do to live a happy or healthy life. They exercise daily, enjoy nature, sleep early, they don’t use the screen an hour before sleep, they use bicycle for transport, do yoga, etc. So by doing this will I be happy forever?

What I found is that happiness is in childhood. In adulthood, we only get satisfied by things. When I was a child, I think I was living a happy energetic life. I felt happy when I and my siblings woke up early for school, fighting for that who get ready first for the school, fighting for that who gets the tv remote first, fighting for one seat in the van, fighting to get first batting in cricket, fighting on one dress, this fighting is the happiness.

The main difference between satisfaction and happiness is that satisfaction comes as a result of doing something while happiness is a feeling which can be at any time because of any little thing at that time, you have no worries and you might get emotional at that time also.

Really admire your thoughts. I think we should focus on peace and harmony with nature. As far as conditional happiness is concerned, it’s just a mirage.

I think happiness come unexpectedly and it is wrap up under the unconditional things that we do for others or even for our own self, and you said right, childhood used to be golden era for being happy without any reason. Well-articulated!
