Melancholy – A Poem

Image of sunlight in window

When the dawn washed the gloom from the room,
It brought forth a smattering of recollections.
I endeavored to turn over and over the blues.
But it didn’t.
It rose like an overcast to merge with a gloomy sky.
Then it came down in dribs and drabs over the heart.
Turned into a massive inundation of melancholy.

Shortly afterwards, it deeply ingrained itself
in the stultified flooring of the heart,
for long stretches of time.
